Chevrolet Announces Volt Pricing, Begins Taking Orders
by Brad Nevin

ANN ARBOR, Mich. July 27, 2010 – The Chevrolet Volt will have an MSRP of $41,000 when it goes on sale later this year. Tax credits for purchasing the car range from $0 to $7,500, which could lower the price to $33,500.

Buyers who want to lease a Volt can get a 36-month least with a $350 montly payment and $2,500 due at lease signing. The $7,500 tax credit is included in the lease payment.

Chevrolet says it will begin delivering vehicles to buyers late this fall. Production will be limited.

“The Chevrolet Volt will be the best vehicle in its class…because it’s in a class by itself,” said Joel Ewanick, vice president of U.S. marketing for General Motors, who made the announcement at the Plug-In 2010 conference. “No other automaker offers an electrically driven vehicle that can be your everyday driver, to take you wherever, whenever. The Volt will be packed with premium content and innovation, standard.”

Initially, Volt will be offered in California, New York, Michigan, Connecticut, Texas, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

The website www.getmyvolt.com helps consumers locate a Volt dealer, where reservations for the vehicle are being taken starting today.
